FAQ

Kaboom Animation Festival 2025

Kaboom Industry Days 2025

Ticketing

How do I buy tickets?

Kaboom tickets, both for our online and for our offline program, are best bought online (via Ticket shop) before our screenings. However, if buying online isn’t your thing, or you decide to visit more screenings on the spot, you can also buy tickets at our box office on location. If you just show up without tickets, our team is ready to help you buy them online or at our box office!

Where are the box offices at the festival?

You can find our box offices at de Slachtstraat Filmtheatre, Bibliotheek Neude and Eye Filmmuseum.

What kind of tickets can I buy?

Check this page and you will have a great overview of all the possibilities.

How does a Mad Animation Lover Pass work?

You just buy the pass once and after that you can book a ticket for any film, VR experience or workshop. Don’t forget to reserve your spots! If you change your mind, we kindly ask you to cancel your seat, so someone else gets to book a ticket. Please note that this is a personal pass, giving access to only one ticket per screening and to be used only by you.

Do I get e-tickets or printed tickets?

You will receive e-tickets via e-mail as a PDF to print or scan from your phone at the cinema. You can find them when you log in to your account at our website.

I didn’t receive a confirmation email/tickets/etc.

If you log in to your account on our website, you’ll get the full overview of everything you’ve bought. And the good thing is: all your tickets are in here as well, so you can’t lose them anymore!

How can I get my money back if I can’t go?

We do not offer refunds or reimbursements. If you made a mistake, you can give the tickets to one of your friends and make them very happy!

Can I swap my ticket for a different film?

No, you can’t. If you made a mistake, you should probably just go see both films.

Which discounts do you offer?

5 Bumpy Rides discount: Buy 5 tickets for only €44,00. That means a € 11 discount!

Mad Animation Lover Pass: For €111 you’ll get to go to as many programs as you’d like! Both on- and offline.

All You Can Eat Online Pass: For € 30 you get access to the full online program, that means all the shorts in competition!

Cineville members: As a Cineville member, you have access to regular Kaboom screenings and VR projects. You can reserve Cineville tickets once our ticketing starts and need to scan your Cineville pass on location to get access to the screening. Please don’t forget to cancel your reservation if you decide not to visit the screening.

Stadspas members: As a Stadspas member you can see our Amsterdam program! One ticket costs €8,50 (discounted ticket price). You make a reservation on the website, but you only get the ticket on location when you have shown your Stadspas.

U-pas members: As an U-pas member you can either get a 40% percent discount on our Utrecht program or pay with the credit on your card. You won’t be able to reserve a ticket beforehand, but you can just come to our box office in Library Neude or Slachtstraat Filmtheater to buy a ticket with discount.

Library cardholders discount: Are you a member of the library in Utrecht? Then you’ll get a 20% discount on all the screenings and VR experiences in the library! Check out their communication channels.

– Students: By creating an account with your student email, you can enjoy a student discount on the following: one ticket per regular screening or one VR experience (€8,50 instead of €11), Online All You Can Eat (€25 instead of €30) and a discount on the Mad Animation Lover Pass (€90 instead of €111).

– Upon presentation of a Kaboom admission ticket, a visitor to the festival will receive admission to the Eye exhibition Nuri Bilge Ceylan at the student rate of €10.00 instead of €15.00.

I’m eligible for a discount but bought a regular-priced ticket.

When purchasing a ticket, please make sure to check all available discounts (see above). You snooze you lose, my friend.

Can I get a passe-partout or a discount if I go to a lot of films?

We have different ticket options that cater to different needs. To watch the full online collection (of more than 160 shorts in competition!) on demand, we offer the Online All You Can Eat Pass. To watch everything on- & offline, we offer the MAD Animation Lover Pass. Want to keep it profesh? Get tickets for the Industry Days. Check our ticketing page to be fully updated on every detail.

Films

Is there a time limit to watch online films?

No, there isn’t. You can watch it as much as you’d like between 21st 30th March.

How often can I (re)watch the film(s)?

Don’t you worry, we are taking good care of our fans. During the festival (March 21st – 12:00 to March 30th00:00), all online films can be viewed without any restriction!

I am unable to attend (any more). Can I get a refund?

Ouch, we’re sorry, but this is not possible. We do apologize! Please do make another human being happy with your ticket.

Will there be (any) subtitles?

You don’t need to have a Ph.D. in English, but the majority of our content will be in English, without subtitles. Films in a foreign language other than English will be subtitled in English. Please note: our kids programs on both Sunday mornings either have Dutch spoken language or a Dutch live dub, so children can understand what’s going on.

Is the online program the same as the offline program?

No. The online program contains all short films in competition, but not the features, the theme program or the focus on Belgium.

Is the content of Kaboom Animation Festival 2025 available outside of The Netherlands?

Forgive us Father for we have no other option: the public content is only available for IP addresses registered in the Netherlands.

Can an online screening be sold out?

Unless our fans crash the internet (which is of course a possibility), an online screening cannot be sold out. All content during the festival is available on demand.

On which devices can I watch?

As long as it has a screen and a stable internet connection, you should be fine. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Microsoft Edge are the most reliable browsers to stream films.

The quality of the content looks low res, what’s wrong?

Yes, and it’s normal if the first few secs are lower resolution. If your connection is good enough, the player will then switch to HD. We offer content in 360p, 720p, 1080p, 2K and sometimes 4K.

Why are you collecting my data and can I only participate if I give you access to my data?

You can bring your baby to the festivities, but our screenings are generally too noisy and confusing for humans under the age of three.

Kaboom Camp is specially tailored for students and young professionals, while Kaboom PRO is directed towards animation professionals who are already working in the industry, but everyone is welcome to join any program.

What does a Kaboom Industry Day pass include?

A day pass for Kaboom Camp or Kaboom PRO includes full access to the program, unless it comes to a few special Invitation Only sessions.

Note that this year no lunch is included in the pass. The HKU Oudenoord has a cafeteria to your disposal and we suggest you bring your own water bottle to reduce the waste!

No, we sell Kaboom Camp and Kaboom PRO passes separately. If you would like to attend both days, you can purchase the passes for each day.

How can I attend one-on-one meetings during Kaboom Industry Days?

The One-on-One meetings are pre-scheduled, however during the Kaboom PRO day there is a Meet up Space to meet and greet fellow animation filmmakers and professionals and everyone with the Kaboom PRO day pass can attend it.

I want to submit my Showreel to The Best Showreels Screening & Contest and/or Benelux Animation Pitch. How can I do it?

We closed the selection for 2025 edition, but please stay tuned for the 2026 deadlines! Usually, the Debutants Ball call for showreels opens in December and we plan to open the submissions for the next edition of BAP in August 2025.
