It is finally time to announce the Official Selection for Kaboom Animation Festival 2026. Get ready to dive into our carefully crafted collection that is sure to leave you speechless. This year, a total amount of 159 films and VR works will compete on our glorious cinematographic battleground. The competition is fierce, so it will be a suspenseful match. Let’s see who comes out on top.
With nine categories to explore there is something for everyone. Expect a dazzling – yet healthy – overload of short films and VR works for young, old and everyone in between. We are excited to celebrate, discuss, cherish and devour these exciting works. Will you join us?

KABOOM ANIME

📍 7 different cinemas across NL: Amsterdam, Almere, Breda, Groningen, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht
From November 2025 to April 2026, prepare to be captivated by a collection of Japanese animated classics that were rarely showcased in Dutch cinemas before. The films range from vampire dystopias, wolf families to galaxy adventures. All titles are presented in the original Japanese language with English subtitles.
And this season we are happy to add 2 more locations to our roster! Now also in The Hague and Almere will you be able to fuel your anime hunger. 🤩

KABOOM CULT
From November 2025 to May 2026, in our collaboration with LAB111, we present rarely-seen animation classics on the big screen, from recently restored cult titles to seldomly-screened festival hits. Animation belongs on the big screen and what better place to present it than at LAB111, where Kaboom has its offices? So grab a drink and come watch great animation with us!
