#Stolen Memory: Johannes

#Stolen Memory: Johannes

  • Leo Rey
  • Germany, 2020
  • 3 min.

Johannes was born in Rotterdam in 1924, became a policeman like his father and liked to go dancing. He was full of the joys of life till the Nazis regime started. This short film recalls his tragic story and the brave choice he made, at his own costs. It is part of a three-movie series for the #StolenMemory campaign by the Arolsen Archives, launched to actively searching for relatives of former concentration camp inmates with the aim of returning personal items, “stolen memories” indeed, to their families. Despite all the sufferings Johannes´ experience can teach us valuable and timeless lessons of resistance, courage, endurance and hope for a better world.
