Black Deluge
A series of four short films that explore the forces of alienation in contemporary society: social estrangement, addiction, depression, workplace pressures, economic uncertainty and academic stress. Drowning in anxiety, the characters in these films are increasingly disconnected from themselves, their peers and their family. Thematically rooted in modern Korean culture but inspired by Eugene O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night, the four episodes portray members of a family who suffer from a deep sense of isolation and are unable to connect at even the most central activity of family bonding – the family meal.
