In China, a young boy who likes to draw named Gonglong is picked on by bullies with a girl named Meihua defending him. Suddenly, a glowing pen falls out of the sky and lands in front of the school. Gonglong picks it up and uses it to draw food which becomes real and allows him to eat it. It quickly becomes apparent that he is the only one who can use it.
