Making Pim & Pom the Movie
Pretty much every Dutch kid grows up with the wonderful work of children’s book illustrator Fiep Westendorp. In 2009, the Fiep Westendorp Foundation expanded her legacy with the animated series Pim & Pom. After two successful seasons, it was time for these two cute cats to go bigger and better: A feature-length film.
Pim & Pom: The Movie is one of the first homegrown animated feature films to hit cinemas in a very long while. What makes it even more unique is the fact that it’s an all-Dutch production, from script to post-production. Anyone interested in making feature-length animation in the Netherlands knows that’s nearly impossible, but the bold people at Fiep Westerdorp BV did it anyway.
Director Gioia Smid, art director/lead animator Marieke van Middelkoop, assistant director Hans Walther, and post-production man (as well as KLIK! presenter) Roloff de Jeu tell you how they made the nearly impossible possible anyway.
Making Pim & Pom the Movie is Dutch spoken.
