

Stephen Hillenburg
As a child Stephen Hillenburg (US, 1961) was very imPressed by the marine film maker, Jacques Cousteau. During his marine biology studies he was already drawing in his spare time, and three years after he had finished his degree he began a masters in fine arts with experimental animation as specialization at the prestigious CalArts. He made The Green Beret and Wormholes (1992) during this degree. His student films were successful in the internation festival circuit. Nickelodeon noticed his talent and asked him for Rocko's Modern Life. Later Hillen burg himself drew an even more famous cartoon filn series, in which he combines his interest in the underwater world and his drawing talent: SpongeBob SquarePants. It becomes more than just one series The film The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is also a hit for young and old.
