

Paul Driessen is one of the standard bearers of the Dutch animation film and substantially contributed to the fact that from the 1970s the Nederlands gained international status in the field of the autonomous animation film. In March 2015, Paul Driessen turns 75. Also in March 2015, his latest film will be completed, It’s Raining Cats and Dogs (co-production il Luster Film and National Film Board of Canada). All the more reason for a festive première of his new film and a retrospective of his oeuvre at HAFF, in association with different parties.




A split screen tells the story of a sleeping man on land, a fisherman and his wife at sea and a bird in the sky.

Spots come to life. Manipulated by their originator, they are ushered to their final destination in a neat black-and-white display.


Somebody preparing to eat an egg for breakfast detects life within the delicate eggshell. He starts teasing it, gets excited and finally loses control of himself.
Iemand die op het punt staat een eitje te verorberen, bespeurt leven binnen de eierschaal. Dat windt hem op en uiteindelijk verliest hij zijn zelfbeheersing.


In a small country, surrounded by a dyke, dwell the "Water People". They live partly submerged in water, for instead of keeping it out, the duke keeps the water in. The Water People like it that way.
Their King, however, hates water and tries to sell out.

Uncles and aunts and otherwise related people. Revealing snapshots of their lives and times. As long as they hold out, a series to be continued.
