Dealing with War
Two sheep, one Dog
Two sheep: „Peace“
Dog wags his tail,
… opens his mouth showing six sharp teeth,
... screams: „War!“
The World Cup is over. Messi finally won. But this is the real deal: Kaboom's International Short Film Competition.

Once upon a time ... Films from all over the world came together on a glorious battlefield. Victory would be for one of them. But there would be no losers, because talent and art are there to be celebrated, to be loved, to be remembered and to be devoured by you ... the audience. The battle would forever be known as Kaboom's International Short Film Competition. And we are honoured to organise that competition year in year out. In 2023, a large number of short films battle it out for our coveted awards!

Every day, a father and his son jump with a parachute from their vertiginous cold house, attached to a cliff, to go to the village on the ground, far away, where they sell the ice they produce daily.

In the midst of the frenzy night a man finds himself lost in the crevasse of time.
It was not the grotesque beings nor the monsters, but it was he who “was here, but wasn’t here”.
He was the phantom.
Buried under memories full of inhibition and promises that never kept – words washed up on the shore – time keeps him at a distance from the “place” .
And he hears poems coming on the waves from the other side ryhming and lapping against the shore.

What would happen if mum was always right? Do mums always tell their children the truth? If I squint, will I stay cross-eyed forever? And what about beer, can it be safely tasted? Or will it make me the shortest granddad in the old folk’s home? Will I really have muscles like Popeye if I eat spinach?

Music video for the song of the group Sobotni Rosol.
The lyrics of the song say that we pass other people on the street but we do not notice each other.
We are becoming more and more invisible to each other.

The lives of three colourful apartment dwellers get shaken up when one of them loses his tap dance shoe.
The unfortunate tap dancer begins a quest to find his missing shoe, but his chaotic search does not go unnoticed. He leaves his mark in the apartment building in sound as well as in the design. Slowly but surely connections start to form between the various spaces and characters.

A spirited young woman persuades a hyena from London Zoo to take her place at a dinner dance held in her honour. Their plan requires a surprising amount of artistry and violence. Based on a story by artist Leonora Carrington, Elizabeth Hobbs celebrates her startling tale with paint and collage.

The bell tower rings and the birds fly away.
In the countryside on the outskirts of a small village, a dog tied to a very long rope, watches them disappear in the horizon.
It’s time for him to go;
Prance across fields;
How far will his rope allow him to go ?

Two ships collide in a harbour, an explosion shatters a city, and a sailor is blasted skyward. With ears ringing, blood pulsing and guts heaving, he soars high above the mayhem and towards the great unknown. A bold blend of comedy, suspense and philosophy, The Flying Sailor is an exhilarating contemplation of the wonder and fragility of existence.

A metaphor for the double-entry bookkeeping we live by every day. We know about our own mortality and yet behave as if we live forever.

Our memories play an important role in the construction of identity and self-awareness. My childhood memories have acquired a special value for me since the outbreak of the full-scale war in Ukraine, my home country. For many children, this time will become a formative memory. My childhood in Ukraine was different and I want to share it with the audience in the form of an animated short. In the film I tell a personal story about my childhood memories and explore how memories are preserved and why they have a special meaning for people.
