Storytelling in the Spider-Man Universe

Presented by Michael Minneboo
In Storytelling in the Spider-Man Universe, Michael Minneboo will look at the way the Spider-Man storytelling devices from the comics and animation series have changed over the years. He also examines what makes Peter Parker such a relatable hero and takes an in-depth look into his daily routines (even revealing what’s inside his refrigerator!).
Minneboo not only illustrates his lecture with examples from the comics, animations, and films, he also includes examples from the many homemade Spider-Man films that clutter the web: from Dan Poole’s classic adaptation of the Death of Gwen Stacy from the 1990s to DIY stop-motion fights between Spider-Man toys.
Michael Minneboo is a freelance journalist who writes about comics, film, animation, and visual culture for publications such as the VPRO Gids, Schokkend Nieuws, and the Stripgids. He also is crazy about Spider-Man. Ever since he came across a couple of Spider-Man comics as an eight year old, he‘s been stuck in Spidey‘s web, reading and collecting Spidey comics for most of his life now. He’s visited memorable places from the Spider-Man stories in New York, writes about him on a weekly basis for his website, and even gives lectures about the friendly neighborhood superhero.
