The Netherlands in WWII: Wartime Animation

60 minutes
The Netherlands in WWII: Wartime Animation

In no way did the outbreak of the Second World War entail the silencing of the production of animation films in the Netherlands. On the contrary, various film production companies were active during Occupation and the actual production of animation films increased. The history of this time is a continuous work in progress'. Films, including new films, are continually being discovered in archives and mentioned in released documents that have come available for research. Research and publications lead to new insights and finds. Thanks to the Film-museum's recent film restorations, it is now possible to screen a number of animation films from 1940-1945. Some of these films have not been seen for more than sixty years.
