Healing Inscape: Sacrifice & Rebirth
This project explores the limitations of language as a tool for communication, highlighting how misunderstandings within family dynamics can lead to conflict and emotional distress. The work reflects on the recurring arguments that contribute to feelings of depression and investigates how visualizing thoughts and emotions might foster greater understanding within familial relationships.
Through visual art, the project delves into the complex process of psychological separation from family while simultaneously pursuing personal identity. It captures memories and experiences from this journey, depicting the overwhelming tension of familial disputes and the loneliness stemming from conservative hometown values that hinder young people's pursuit of independence. This struggle prompts a broader reflection on societal norms and expectations.
The artwork authentically recreates scenes from dreams and the subconscious, translating internal experiences into symbolic and abstract imagery. These visuals serve as direct representations of mental and emotional states, allowing for a deeper exploration of the inner world.
Additionally, the visualization process acts as a means of confronting trauma and negative emotions, providing catharsis. Building and externalizing this inner world becomes a path of self-discovery, offering insight into personal identity and core emotional needs.
Inspired by the concept of inscape in art therapy, the project incorporates VR as a primary medium. VR's immersive qualities enhance the therapeutic potential of the work by creating enveloping virtual environments that encourage self-expression and emotional processing. Unlike traditional mediums such as oil painting, VR allows for a more interactive and encompassing experience, fostering a safe space for introspection.
This project seeks to visualize the inner landscape in a way that resonates with audiences, facilitating a connection to the artist's inner thoughts and emotions. By harnessing VR technology, the project aims to expand the possibilities of art therapy, offering innovative ways to engage with and interpret the complexities of the human psyche.
