When Marnie Was There

Ravishing and touching Japanese anime about the young girl Anna and her unusual friendship with the mysterious Marnie. Directed by Hiromasa Yonebayashi (The Secret World of Arrietty) and produced by the famous Studio Ghibli (The Wind Rises, The Tale of The Princess Kaguya). At a young age, the introverted asthmatic Anna loses her parents and is put up for adoption. When her asthma worsens, Anna's adoptive mother sends her to a family, the Oiwas, who live in a small village by the sea. For Anna, this heralds a summer full of adventure, starting with her discovery of a small house in a marsh. Though the villagers claim the house has been abandoned for years, Anna meets a mysterious girl there: Marnie.
