Best of Both Worlds

Best of Both Worlds

Real materials and analogue techniques are back in vogue, even with animators who are hooked on the computer. Many computer animated films are heavily inspired by traditional techniques or even try to look just like it. Such digital eye candy gives food for thought: when CGI can fake the unique features of real-life materials so well, then what are those features exactly? The mash-up of CGI’s endless possibilities and the limitations of traditional techniques makes for one magical show.
