Shane Acker (USA) is a film director and screenwriter best known for his animated feature 9, which is based on his 2005 Student Academy Award-winning film of the same title. During the festival, he will explain how he went about elaborating a short film into a feature film. In addition to being a director, Shane is an animator and worked on several productions, including Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
Shane Acker has a multidisciplinary background, studying architecture for several years before becoming a filmmaker. He received a Masters Degree in architecture and a MFA in animation. Shane’s first film The Hangnail (2000) was a 2-D animated film, but he transitioned to CG to direct his next film The Astounding Talents of Mr. Grenade.
