Daily Masters: Young Studios

75 minutes

For several years now, a young animation industry has been budding in the Netherlands, but the Dutch animation sector is still characterised by its small scale. Even after the five full-length animation films that were realised since 2012 (Sprookjesboom de Film, Nijntje de Film, Pim & Pom Het Grote Avontuur, Last Hijack and Trippel Trappel Dierensinterklaas), there is no real continuity. The country only has a few large companies and countless freelancers. This partly explains why the animation sector is not very visible. And yet, some young studios try to join forces. The Utrecht region boasts a very active sector, but also outside the Randstad interesting developments can be seen. HAFF invites a few fledgling animation studios to a forum discussion and screens their different projects: Klomp Animation, Studio Pupil, Matte Nande Animatie Studio and Frame Order. Moderator Hans Walther, director and production consultant.
