Dutch Experimental Film 60-90 II

Dutch Experimental Film 60-90 II

Animation is booming and cross-over products are everywhere. New digital animation technologies are becoming increasingly accessible and are used by countless visual artists. Since the first animation experiments in the early twentieth century, animation and the visual arts have engaged in an intensive exchange. This programme consists of films by Dutch artists and filmmakers active in the border region between visual art and animation from the 1950s to the early 1990s, when the technology was almost exclusively analogue. The programme emerged from the Filmmuseum’s recent comprehensive restoration of experimental films.

The programme includes lesser- and better-known films from this border region between film and visual art. It is not narrative, but rather material and technique that forms the basis of these films.

Curated by Simona Monizza & Mette Peters.

This program screened as part of HAFF 2008
