First episode of a four-part film epic, Rebuild of Evangelion, from the makers of the TV series Neon Genesis Evangelion from the mid-1990s. Fourteen-year-old Shinji is summoned to the headquarters of the ultra-secret government organisation NERV, for a reunion with his father Gendo Ikari, whom he has not seen for a decade. The latter informs him that NERV has developed a gigantic humanoid weapons system to combat the enemy, the Angels. Only a handful of children can operate the colossal weapon, called Evangelion. Shinji has been chosen to pilot the Eva Unit One. The fate of the world rests on his shoulders. Will Shinji succeed? His father silently and attentively watches his son fight a desperate battle.
