HAFF x LHC: Loving Vincent

Animation has no boundaries. That’s why we love seeing where it can go, like with Loving Vincent - the world’s first ever fully painted feature film.

Every one of its 65,000 frames is a hand-painted oil painting. Let that sink in for a minute. Every frame, or 65,000 in total, is painted by hand. It was first shot as a live action film and then hand-painted over by 125 professional oil painters.

This remarkable film that tells the story of Vincent van Gogh’s passionate and short life, and mysterious death. Be sure to catch the pre-release - before it’s out in theaters  - during KLIK. Loving Vincent was written and directed by Dorota Kobiela & Hugh Welchman, and produced by Poland's BreakThru Films and UK's Trademark Films.

This special screening of the film is preceded by the short film 'De Slaapkamer' by Maarten Koopman (1990).

This program screened as part of HAFF 2017
