Colours everywhere! New Zealand artist Len Lye was a pioneer in experimental (and colour) film and combined Cuban dance music with hand-painted abstract designs in one of the first animations to be painted directly onto the film. Here, images become notes, sequences become tunes, colours become moods, the movement of an element becomes the change of pitch. Film becomes visual music. Dance along!

I wanted to manipulate light to produce visual compositions in time continuity much as a musician manipulates sound to produce music.
