Heartstrings

Heartstrings

Start your day well! Before immersing yourself in the screenings, you can enjoy the Heartstrings talk show. Which film would you take to a desert island? Every morning from Thursday through Sunday, Peter Dougherty asks festival guests about their favorite films or talks with filmmakers about their film in competition.
On Friday and Saturday, animation filmmakers present their favorite films. Films that for some reason are special to them. Perhaps, the productions inspired them to make their own films or they can relate to their aspirations. Or is it the beauty of the images?
On Friday Boyoung Kim (South Korea) and Gil Alkabetz (Germany) tell about their favorites. Replacement by Boyoung Kim, about a boy who dreads going to the dentist, is selected in competition shorts 1 and abstract psychological thriller 1+1 by Gill Alkabetz in competition shorts 2.
On Saturday morning Mait Laas (Estonia) and Seth Scriver (Canada). Both have a feature film in competition. Asphalt Watches by Seth Scriver and Shayne Ehman is an extraordinary road movie with a motley parade of unusual characters. Lisa Limone and Maroc Orange: A Rapid Love Story by Mait Laas is a socially committed Romeo & Julia as a musical in stop-motion, with fruit.
