Calling this Japanese film a war drama would not do it justice. We prefer to describe it as a dreamy tale of courage and imagination under fire.

It follows Suzu, a young woman with a love of daydreaming, who in 1944 moves to a small town just outside Hiroshima. The first part follows her coming of age, while the second shows how war and constant bombings take their toll.
