Inside the Green Book: The Life and Animation of Geoff Dunbar

Geoff Dunbar’s life was profoundly influenced by the discovery of a little green book in the school library that explained how Mickey Mouse was brought to life. This triggered his fascination with animation. Another green book, containing drawings by Toulouse Lautrec, inspired him to animate Lautrec, which brought him the 1975 Golden Palm at Cannes. Commissioned by the Bradford Animation Festival on the occasion of Dunbar’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011, this documentary reveals his pioneering influence on British animation, with a choice of fragments from his work. People introduced include contemporaries and colleagues, such as Sir Paul McCartney, with whom he made several films.
