Jury Presentation

The jury members of the competitions present their work. Films of renowned filmmakers and work by visual artists that are working in the world of animation. The mix of everything from personal films to a commercial shows the diversity of the jury and of animation as a medium. For films by the jury members Haiyang Wang (China) and Kei Oyama (Japan) please refer to the Winners programmes. As winners of the Dioraphte Grand Prix HAFF for shorts 2010 they were given carte blanche to put together their own programme. Gregory Barsamian (USA) will give a lecture on Friday as part of the Daily Master programme. And there is an exhibition of artwork of Igor Kovalyov in Louis Hartlooper Complex.

Now Belgian director and stop-motion artist Emma De Swaef forms a duo with Marc James Roels. Their film This Magnificent Cake! received international acclaim. Already in her graduation short Soft Plants, De Swaef experimented with felt puppets, telling the story of office worker Willy whose mind wanders between dangerous flowers and an imaginary friendship for a soft sheep.
