Bill Plympton (USA, 1946) studies at the School of Visual Arts and works, after graduating, for a while as an illustrator and cartoonist. In 1975 he decides to start producting animation. Result is a series of short films, like Your Face (1988, Oscar nomination), and Plymptoons (1990) for MTV. The ambitious Plympton wants more and makes a feature, The Tune (1992), and two live action productions. A few of his awards: a Grand Prix in Annecy 1998 and 2001 and the Jury Award in Cannes 1991. Recent projects are Mutant Aliens (2001) and Hair High (2003). Plympton also works for television, music videos and commercials. His style is easily recognizabkle by the colours and the big, surrealistic figures and a combination of humor with violence and sex.
