Panel: Perfection in Creativity

In a world where AI can draw perfectly, does humankind have to choose for ugliness?

Panel: Perfection in Creativity

Dammit AI … Why are you so darn perfect?! Now that AI can draw perfectly with immense speed and precision, perhaps humankind should choose for “ugliness”? Because let’s be honest: we will never be able to match the speed and quality of AI. We feel this is really worth a discussion! Join our chat about perfection in animation. What is “enough” in animation? How exact and precise do drawings in animation need to be? How many updates, corrections, additions are really necessary to admit the work is done? And perhaps, we should just embrace the imperfection of our skills? Debating about all of this are artist Jing Yue Zwaan (author of a manifest about limited animation), German animator Gerrit Kuge, and Joost Lieuwma, creator of Cartoon Box (a series of short cartoons that brings new animation every week).

Guests: Jing Yue Zwaan, Gerrit Kuge, Joost Lieuwma.
Moderator: Anna Liebermann.
