Okay okay, perhaps our story is missing a few beats, but here’s the gist: after more than a century of cinema, it all comes down to this: a showdown between animators from all over the world, dubbed the Kaboom International Short Film Competition. Whoever comes out on top, know that the one true winner is already known: the art of animation.
In a peaceful garden two delicate butterflies engage in a violent turf war. Each lays claim to the control of a beautiful flower but behind their colorful facades lies a dark secret. British director Michael Marczewski mixes bright and vibrant animation with a dose of his dark trademark humor in this short film.
Hurikán rushes out to save his favorite beer stand from closure by fetching a new keg to impress the bartender he has a crush on. In a wild Prague district, he faces robbers, cops, and his own thirst. A tense but very funny black-and-white animation, incredibly directed by Jan Saska.

When things are about to get steamy, Emma suddenly feels as though the religious statues are judging her! A hilarious short by French director Clémence Taveau.
In outer space, a captain and his loyal robot burn their bridges and decide to follow a creature called "Intuition." This leads them to a mysterious, desolate planet where they search for the meaning of life. Director Mickaël Dupré takes you on a nostalgic science fiction journey, accompanied by atmospheric music and a much-needed sense of wonder.

Perhaps not the best place to store it, because, as she cleans herself, the noodles end up in the water… and in other places! Well-animated and relatable story about discomfort, by emerging French director Louise Labrousse.

A 10-year-old girl has an obsession with… the loos! Her life, moving from one toilet to another, is calm and safe but somewhat lonely. As she grows up, she tries to make sense of this obsession while navigating her way through life. Clever, well animated short by Indian director Subarna Dash.
In this surreal animation, you follow a strange interaction between a wandering man and the mysterious creature Yapolaponky. A quiet and intriguing film about loss and grief by Japanese director Masataka Kihara.
