Remember that time when cinema was not a thing yet? When animation only existed within faraway dreams? Dreadful. And then Kaboom came along. Dreams became reality, and animation was king of kings. Okay okay, perhaps our story is missing a few beats, but here’s the gist: after more than a century of cinema, it all comes down to this: a showdown between animators from all over the world, dubbed the Kaboom International Short Film Competition. Whoever comes out on top, know that the one true winner is already known: the art of animation.
A whimsical commentary on life, death and the cyclical nature of life, this is the story of a group of rabbits living in one house. Soon rabbits begin to multiply and the house becomes overgrown until suddenly, they all perish and go quiet. After ghosts haunt the house, new rabbits appear and the cycle, presumably, begins again.
A character wakes up halfway... Still under the influence of sleep, his actions and visions will sometimes be shifted...

The tracks on the ice surface are like the various experiences in life. This film began during my undergraduate graduation, a time filled with goodbyes and confusion about the future. My mind was overflowing with thoughts, and that’s how this film came to be.
Through Ice Rink, I aim to highlight the moments of growth that are often overlooked. There may never be quick fixes, but sharing and understanding can help light the way for each other in the dark.
Ice Rink is also a reflection of my own growth. I’ve blended childhood memories of the southern region with the northern landscapes I saw as an adult, creating this film using watercolor on paper and 2D animation.
Ordinary life repeats itself every day while the succession of moments that we repeat over and over again is never the same.

In a Buddhist temple, young monks begin their meditation when the master arrives. One of the children is distracted by a sparrow and follows the bird outside the monastery. Here begins a walk off the beaten paths that goes to the tour of his lifetime. When he has become an old monk, he returns back to the temple where young monks are waiting for him. One of them is distracted by a sparrow...
