The world of animation is changing rapidly. Technological developments offer opportunities for new forms of animation and storytelling. Some animators throw themselves completely into these new forms, others opt for craftsmanship and traditional animation methods. During The Kick #18 we want to explore where animation film stands.

The Kick #18 offers the stage to 4 contemporary animators:

Joost Jordens - Transitions VR experience. 3D artist and director, recently graduated from the HKU and together with Mike von Rotz won the HKU Award in the category 'Innovation' for VR installation Transition. 

Mascha Halberstad - Animator, director, stop motion. With her studio Superfelix specialized in narrative animation and prefers to work old skool and analogue. Made a video for The Prodigy!

Harm Van de Ven - media collective Zesbaans. This collective makes everything, as long as it links to technology and interactivity. Such as VR experience Out of Sight and the first hand-drawn 3D VR experience Drawing Room.

Vera van Wolferen - Visual artist, animator & set designer. Vera makes her dreamy miniatures and sculptures from cardboard, wood and paper. In doing so, she embraces new techniques such as augmented reality to take her work even further.
