De kleine vleermuis Victor is bang voor het donker en houdt van zingen. Maar een verboden verliefdheid dwingt hem om al zijn moed bijeen te rapen.

A bat afraid of the dark, can it be? Well, in case of the little bat Benjamin: yes. His big brothers find him strange and his father is agitated, because soon Benjamin will have to go out to find his own food. No one understands his sensitive nature and his love for singing. Singing is for birds, the bats' sworn enemies. One day, everything changes when Benjamin meets the tropical songbird Sherida. Benjamin will need all the courage he can muster to save his new friend and stand up for who he is.

Benjamin Bat is a musical animated film about how being 'different' is completely fine! The film's style does the theme justice, as the cartoonish 3D characters set against painted 2D backgrounds create a unique look. Throw in some hilarious side characters and nods to Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, and you get a Dutch feature that even bats would dare to brave the light... uh, the dark... for!
