A collaborative workshop where participants create a self-published magazine that delves into the festival's theme.

Welcome to the world of DIY zine-making! In this 4-day workshop, participants are on a mission to capture their own perspectives on Kaboom's 2024 theme "Welcome Home" through the art of illustration, printed animation and zine-making. Amidst the lifely festival atmosphere, in the Utrecht Neude Library, they'll immerse themselves in the creation of a self-published magazine, right on the festival grounds!

At Kaboom we like to do it old school, so we're using 6 vintage stencil machines for printing. Through conversations, interviews, interactive sessions and inspirational preparations, the zine will emerge. Topics range from memories of past home, the universal quest of belonging, or the sobering reality of housing shortages and refugee experiences. On the printing days visitors will be invited to also participate in making content for the zines!
