"What is Interface about?" is only part of the question, and asking it, means that the answer is open to debate. Originally released as a web series on Youtube, Interface is a surrealist opus of unmatched artistry by Canadian Youtuber Justin Tomchuk (Umami). At the base, it's an imaginative sci-fi story influenced by classical paintings and filmmakers such as David Lynch and Ridley Scott (Blade Runner in particular), with at its center the travels of the blue-suited protagonist Henryk and Mischief the Clown in a world exposed to a form of cerebral electricity that renders ghosts and monsters into tangible, living beings.

Rather than a sci-fi thriller, Interface is an atmospheric and referential work that defies categorisation. With the use of Adobe Creative Cloud, low-res animations and an incredibly effective sound design, Tomchuk has created a philosophical albeit bizarre commentary on our modern world.
